“This work would not have been possible without the training, mentoring and support from Georgia CTSA. The foundational work establishing links between inflammation and low functional connectivity in reward circuitry was initially supported by my experience as a KL2 Scholar,” says Dr. Jennifer Felger. “The KL2 and MSCR programs provided the skills to build and fund my research and translate ideas that may one day impact patients with depression.”

Congratulations to Kathy Griendling, PhD, Georgia CTSA Collaboration & Multi-Disciplinary Team Science Director, named 2022 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science - the world's largest general scientific society. Dr. Griendling is a professor of medicine in the Cardiology Division, vice chair for research in the Department of Medicine and executive associate dean for faculty affairs and professional development in the Emory School of Medicine. She has been a leader in basic vascular biology research for the past 30 years and is cited for her “distinguished contributions to the field of physiology and founding the field of vascular NADPH oxidases.”

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to facilitate the transition of previously funded SBIR and STTR Phase II and Phase IIB projects in pain management to the commercialization stage by providing additional assistance for private partnering activities through the Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) program. The All of Us Research Program (All of Us) within the Office of the Director (OD) encourages investigators to apply for grant awards that will advance research in high-priority mission areas of the Institutes, Centers, and Offices (ICOs) through two companion FOAs (1) one to use standard methods and approaches to analyze currently available data within the All of Us Research Program’s Researcher Workbench and (2) one to develop new methods, models, and tools and use them to analyze data in the Researcher Workbench. The new tools will be made broadly available to the scientific community. This FOA uses the R03 grant mechanism to support data analysis using standard methods, while the companion FOA uses the R21 grant mechanism for new tool development and application.

Pediatric research is thriving and expanding in Atlanta through a unique, multi-institutional initiative. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine, and Georgia Institute of Technology have formed a close partnership that combines the clinical strengths of the institutions and offer pilot grants for faculty and centers in the Pediatric Research Alliance. These pilots are designed to stimulate new research projects, build new collaborations, and increase extramural funding for pediatric research.
